Teen Night Out

The Teen Night Out program is a collaborative effort of the following agencies:  Anne Carlsen Center; Development Homes, Inc.; Easter Seals Goodwill of North Dakota; Support Systems, Inc.; Family Voices of North Dakota and The Arc, Upper Valley.

The program meets once per month and provides teens with disabilities (ages 13-21) with a safe environment to experience recreational activities and attend sessions designed to enhance social skills and strengthen peer relationships, resulting in self-advocacy and community inclusion

Human Rights Committee (HRC)

The Human Rights Committee acts as an independent reviewing body to assure that quality programs and services, including effective treatment and care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are provided in the least restrictive and appropriate setting and that the policies, procedures and practices of community service providers do not unnecessarily infringe on an individuals’ basic human and civil rights without due process protections.

Behavior Intervention Review Committee (BIRC)

The Behavior Intervention Review Committee reviews behavior intervention plans for local service providers.

Lenscrafters OneSight Program

The Arc, Upper Valley is a referring agency for Lenscrafters OneSight Program in our service area, which is Grand Forks county in North Dakota.  If  you are living on limited funds or have no health insurance, you may  qualify for free eyeglasses through this program.

Thrift Store Voucher Program

The Arc, Upper Valley provides thrift store vouchers to North Dakota residents who are adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or families with a dependent who has an intellectual and/or developmental disability.

Family Support & Advocacy

Notary Services

The Arc, Upper Valley provides free notary services to members and individuals with disabilities and their families.  Call for an appointment.

The Arc, Upper Valley strives to empower individuals and families to be their own best advocate in addressing issues that may arise throughout a persons’ lifetime.  

Staff are available to serve as advocates in our office, over the phone or by accompanying you to meetings in the community and serving as your advocate with service providers, school staff or employers.

Parent Support Night is a support group for parents of  people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The group is facilitated by parents

Vincent’s Friends Playgroup

Vincent’s Friends is a .weekly playgroup for children with intellectual and/or /developmental disabilities and their siblings ages 0-5.  The goal is to help children with special needs gain motor skills, social skills, confidence and friendship.  Download the flyer for details.
