Who We Are
The Arc Upper Valley is a non-profit organization in Grand Forks, North Dakota that advocates for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. We work tirelessly to uphold our vision that every individual living with IDD has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to support their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. Our organization is a member of The Arc of North Dakota and The Arc of the United States, and we actively collaborate with affiliated chapters around the state and country to ensure that people with IDD have the supports and services they need to be fully engaged in their communities.
DEEPLY ROOTED IN HISTORY
The Arc Upper Valley was established in 1955 by a group of parents and concerned citizens who wanted to wanted to create educational opportunities in the community for children with disabilities. This grassroots movement let to a legacy of advocacy spanning more than 65 years. Our organization has been, and continues to be, instrumental in helping create the systems and services that people with disabilities and their families use everyday. We strive to continue to create new and innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of people with disabilities, their families, and the communities in which they live.
